Chocolate Cake

For the cake:

  • 250g unsalted butter, plus more for greasing the pan
  • 50g cocoa powder
  • ½ tsp fine salt
  • 235 mL water
  • 300g common flour
  • 350g white sugar
  • 1½ tsp baking soda
  • 2 large eggs
  • 120g Greek yogurt

For the glaze:

  • 120g chopped dark chocolate
  • 120 mL whipping cream

Make the cake:

  1. Preheat the oven to 175°C. Grease a Bundt pan (or your preferred pan) with butter and coat with flour.
  2. In a saucepan, combine butter, cocoa powder, salt, and water. Cook over medium heat until melted and combined. Let it cool for 10 minutes.
  3. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, and baking soda.
  4. Pour the cooled butter mixture into the dry ingredients and beat until just combined.
  5. Add eggs, beating until completely blended. Add Greek yogurt and beat until smooth.
  6. Put the batter in the prepared pan and bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean (35 to 45 minutes).
  7. Let the cake cool in the pan for 30 minutes, then transfer it to a serving plate. Allow it to cool completely before frosting.

Make the glaze:

  1. While the cake is cooling, make the chocolate frosting. Place chopped chocolate and cream in a bowl over a saucepan with water to create a bain-marie. Stir until melted and smooth.
  2. Pour the frosting over the cooled cake, allowing it to drip down the sides. Cut into pieces and serve.
